Eastern Fornås Farm
Fornåsa is a small village in Motala Municipality in Östergötland. The area is set in an open and beautiful agricultural landscape, surrounded by fields, forests, and winding country roads that give the place a peaceful, nature-filled feel. Here, the environment is characterised by the wide views of the Östgöta plain.
In the village there is Östra Fornås Lantbruk, a family-owned farm with roots dating back to 1802 that is today run by the 6th generation, with Mattias Olofsson at the helm. The farm specializes in growing potatoes and carrots and places great emphasis on quality, sustainability, and delivering fresh, flavorful produce.
The farm combines traditional cultivation methods with modern techniques to ensure high yields and a good harvest, while also caring for the environment. With care for the soil and crop rotation, Östra Fornås Lantbruk strives to grow vegetables that taste good and do good.

Hi Mattias, what is the most fun thing about your job?
I enjoy such varied work as it is, working in agriculture.
Which of your products is your favorite?
I like our asparagus potatoes best, and they taste especially good in the oven.
What happens at your place during the off-season?
During the off-season, we review and service machinery and start the planning work for the coming season.
You now also have potato chips in your range, how did this idea come about?
What an easy question! We know potatoes and we love chips.
Which part of the year is your favorite?
Definitely the harvest. That's when you see the result of all the work during the year!
Last but not least, what is your best tip for a hobby grower who wants to grow potatoes at home in the garden?
My tip is to always keep an eye on the weeds and water moderately! Too much water in the soil causes the plant to lack oxygen, and we want to avoid that. Because of this, the weather can be a challenge out in the fields.
