Stockagården
Källby is a small town in Västergötland where nature, agriculture, and small-town life create a charming place to live and work, especially for farming and farms – among them is Stockagården.
Stockagården's tomato cultivation is currently run by Magnus Claesson and his son Gabriel. The cultivation started in 1973 and then focused mainly on white cabbage, but has since developed to also supply Swedish tomatoes of the finest quality. In the 8 000 m² greenhouse, several different kinds of tomatoes are grown, from yellow to black and small to large. The tomatoes are grown with great care for both taste, quality, and the environment.

Hi Magnus, what is the most fun thing about your job?
Seeing the tomatoes grow and feeling that we’ve managed to produce something!
What is the most challenging thing in your greenhouse?
Weather and wind. Even though we grow in greenhouses, the weather, with the right temperature and the like, is incredibly important for the result.
How many of you work at Stockagården
During peak season, in the summer, there are as many as 18 of us.
What happens in the greenhouse during the off-season?
When the last harvest is finished, we wash, sanitize and prepare for the next season.
If you hadn’t worked with your crop, what do you think you would have done then?
Then I would have been a carpenter! I am a trained carpenter, which is good knowledge to have in agriculture.
Running a farm takes a lot of time, we imagine. Do you get the chance to take time off, and what do you like to do then?
When time allows, I like to go out on my boat, on Lake Vänern.
What is your best tip for a hobby grower who wants to grow at home?
Try to get the right climate in the greenhouse; as mentioned, that is what is most challenging.
