Stockens Grönsaker

Family-owned Stockens Grönsaker is a Swedish vegetable farm from Frillesås in Halland. The farm grows vegetables where quality, freshness, and care for the produce are central. The company is run with a strong commitment to the land and the crops grown, and the business is an important part of the local countryside.

The cultivation includes several different types of vegetables that are harvested in season to ensure the best possible flavor and nutritional content. By combining experience, modern cultivation methods, and respect for nature's conditions, vegetables of high quality and good shelf life are produced.

It is just as amazing every year to follow the crops from sowing to harvest"

Hi Camilla, what is the most fun thing about your job?
The best part is getting to run the farm and, together with family and relatives, work with the land and what grows on it. It is just as fantastic every year to follow the crops from sowing to harvest.

What do you think is the most challenging?
The weather can be a challenge - getting the sowing and grass harvest done before the rain comes, but also being able to manage irrigation during dry periods. But that is also part of the charm of the job.

How many of you work there?
The farm is a family business, so here there are me, my parents, three uncles and my uncle's wife. We are four full-time workers plus extra seasonal workers during the summer.

Which ingredient from your crops is your favorite?
Our bunch carrots are my favorite! Being able to deliver fresh carrots with a good and sweet taste, combined with the fact that we have grown carrots for several generations, makes me especially proud of them. We also grow unsprayed potatoes that we sell in our farm shop.

Running a farm takes a lot of time, we can imagine; do you have the opportunity to be off, and what do you like to do most then?
We have more or less time off during different periods of the year. For me, I prioritize spending time with family, and exercise, which is a big shared interest in the family.

What is your best tip for a hobby gardener who wants to grow at home in the garden?
Sow the vegetables in batches, and you can enjoy fresh vegetables for a longer period.

What time of year is your favorite?
The first sowing in spring and the first harvest of the season are favorite moments of the year. But the great charm of running the farm is how different the workdays can look and that the tasks vary from day to day.
