Alkarp Farm
Just outside Mantorp, where the Östgöta Plain stretches out with its fertile soil and rich agricultural tradition, lies Alkarps Lantbruks AB.
The farm is run by Johanna Ivarsson and Henrik Egelstig, a dedicated couple with deep knowledge of the land they cultivate and the produce they grow.
At Alkarps Lantbruks AB, red beets, yellow beets, chioggia beets and parsnips are grown. Root vegetables with character that require the right soil, the right timing and a watchful eye throughout the entire season. Every harvest is marked by care for taste, quality and the environment.

Hello Johanna and Henrik, what is the most challenging thing on your farm?
It's weed control!
How many of you work on the farm today?
There are three of us.
What is your favorite ingredient?
It's the yellow beets. They have such a lovely color and good flavor!
What happens on the farm/fields/crops during the off-season?
When is that?.. When we don't have to focus as much on the cultivation, we service the machinery so that it will be in good condition when we need it.
If you hadn't worked on your farm, what would you have been doing then?
Hmm, carpenter maybe?
Running a farm takes a lot of time; when you get the chance to take time off, how do you like to spend it?
Then it's usually a trip for sun and swimming or to the mountains for skiing.
What is your best tip for a hobby gardener who wants to grow at home in the garden?
Fertilize well and choose seeds and seedlings of good quality!
Which occasion/time/moment during the year is your favorite, and why?
The harvest, when we bring it in in the autumn! It brings lovely scents in the fields and fine produce.
