Just east of Lake Vättern, where the lake breeze and fertile Östgöta soil meet, lies Skaftesgärde Lantbruks AB.
Daniel Wernström, together with his father Göran, has spent nearly 40 years perfecting the art of growing carrots.
At Skaftesgärde, carrots are grown with great care for flavor, nutrition and appearance. From classic orange to more unusual shades such as purple and yellow. The ambition is clear: flavorful, crisp and sweet carrots with a strong color, packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Every detail in the chain, from variety selection to soil analysis, is carefully considered to give the carrot the best possible conditions to grow naturally and sustainably. The farm is certified according to Svenskt Sigill, a testament to their serious work with quality and the environment.

Hi Daniel, what is the most fun thing about your job?
The variety in the work of working with nature and being part of the food chain and producing food.
What is the most challenging thing on your farm/at your job?
The climate!
How many of you work on the farm?
We are five people.
Can we guess that carrot is your favorite ingredient?
Yes! Because I get the opportunity to refine it all the way to the consumer. But also dill flowers, because they are so beautiful.
What happens on the farm during the off-season?
I don't know when the off-season is, but when things are a bit calmer, we do maintenance work and improve the machinery line.
What do you do when you get the chance to take a vacation?
I have the chance to take some time off in early July, and then I like to head north to the silence and the open spaces.
What is your best tip for a hobby gardener who wants to grow at home in the garden?
Even watering and regular weeding!
What time of year is your favorite?
Spring, the month of May, when everything comes to life!
