Blood orange
December - January

A seasonal citrus fruit with a deep red color and a sweet taste
Blood oranges differ from regular oranges through their red flesh, which gets its color from natural anthocyanins. These pigments develop when the fruit grows in environments with large temperature differences between cold nights and sunny days, which is especially common in parts of the Mediterranean.
The fruit's acidity is often somewhat milder than in a classic orange, giving it a round and aromatic character that makes it popular both as fresh fruit and in juice.

Aroma's Picks
There are several different varieties of blood orange, but the classic Sicilian Sanguinelli is especially well loved. It is grown in Sicily near Mount Etna, where the climate contributes to its intense color and rich flavor. Sanguinelli has deep red flesh and an elegant balance between sweetness and freshness, making it one of the most appreciated choices among blood oranges, with the Gyllene Korset brand being a guarantee of the finest blood orange!
Did you know that
When blood oranges first began to be exported, some people thought the fruit was “artificial” or dyed, because the red color was so unusual for citrus fruits.
